In accordance with Securities Act the Board of directors’ (Commissioners) key purpose is to ensure the SECZ’s prosperity by collectively directing the Commission’s affairs, whilst meeting the appropriate interests of its stakeholders. In addition to business and financial issues the Board deals with challenges and issues relating to corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and ethics.
Yona Banda Board Chairman BSc Economics (UZ), MBA (UZ), cert. Project Financing – UNDP [read more] YONA BANDA holds a BSc degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Zimbabwe). He also holds a certificate in Project Financing from UNDP. He is an independent consultant and been a board member for CB Richard Ellis, and Non- Executive Director for FSI Trading and Plainwood Investments. Yona is a career banker with more than twenty years of professional experience in the Zimbabwe financial services sector and capital markets. He has held leadership positions in banking and investment management institutions in Zimbabwe which include Syfrets Corporate bank (now Zimbank), Old Mutual Investment Corporation, Interfin Merchant Bank and Premier, later to be known as Ecobank Capital. Yona has vast experience and expertise in institutional investment management and investment banking in Zimbabwe and has been a participant in a number of high profile corporate transactions that took place over the years in Zimbabwe. During his career he has also developed a strong appreciation of the role and strategic importance of the Zimbabwe financial services sector and capital markets in the development of the economy. Ethel Chitanda Vice Chairperson Chartered Accountant [read more] ETHEL CHITANDA assumed the role of Chief Finance Officer of National Building Society on 1st September 2015. She is a Chartered Accountant. Ethel has more than 14 years’ experience in banking locally & in the region in senior management roles. Her previous positions include Finance Executive at Tetrad Investment Bank, Finance Director ZABG Bank, Assistant Director Finance- Finance Bank of Zambia Limited, Group Finance Manager Kingdom Financial Holdings Limited. Prior to that she served her articles and her audit portfolio was mainly in the Financial Services Sector. Ethel is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe. She is currently a member of National Building Society Board. Ethel is married to Alfred and the couple has 3 children.[\read] |

Mabutho Sibanda Commissioner PhD (Finance); MSc (Finance & Investment); BCom (Finance) Hons; PGDip (Higher Education); Dip (Banking) [read more] Professor Mabutho Sibanda’s career stretches over two decades. He started as an investment banker and later joined academia as a lecturer. He is currently Dean, Head of School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He has held various lecturing posts specialising in Corporate Finance, Investment and Portfolio Management, Financial Risk Management, Development Finance, amongst others. He has more than fifty research publications and has presented at several regional and international conferences. Margaret Mantiziba Commissioner EMBA; MSc (Human Resources Management); PG Dip (Public Administration); BSc Hons (Politics & Administration) [read more] Margaret Mantiziba holds an Executive MBA, MSc degree (Human Resources Management), Post graduate Diploma in Public Administration and BSc (Honours) degree in Politics, Administration and a 2-year Executive leadership Programme funded by the British Council. Her career spans 30 years with experience in the public and private sector. From an Administrative Officer rising to the position of Director of Training in the Public Service Commission, she moved to several government ministries as Director/Deputy Permanent Secretary. Margaret has also worked in several parastatals/state enterprises including a 14-year stint at the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ), with the last 18 months as the CAAZ’s Acting Director General. Regional assignments included membership of the SADC Aviation Safety Organisation Working Group for 6 years. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Pagomo Foods (Pvt) Ltd.[/read] |

William Biggie Manhimanzi Commissioner MBA, BSc (Economics) [read more] William is a career banker who has been in the financial services industry for the past 30 years. His experience spans 27years in Central Banking and 3 in commercial banking. For just under a decade, William has served at Senior Management level, including Head of Treasury at a Discount House and Departmental Head in Financial Markets at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. The Commission will benefit from his vast experience in economic issues having spent a decade in the Research Division of the Bank.[/read] |

Grace Muzondo Commissioner MBA, BSC (Economics)Grace has since the turn of the millennium, built a career in public finance, majoring in taxation and domestic resource mobilisation. She currently holds the role of Director in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion. Her vision is to shape an equitable, sustainable and broad revenue base for the National Treasury as well as a robust capital market. Grace has also played an instrumental role in Trade Facilitation Policy and legislation in the Regional and International Trade Arena. |
